I can't say much about Akihiko's journey other than  he belongs to

Miki's mother has moved out of the house, and it's always a strange thing to be alone.  Even though if something happened, Miki would be more capable to deal with it that her ma- it's the illusion of safety.  Now she just kind of lies there, sings lullabies to herself, and hopes the house doesn't creak too much.
